The Open Space Institute is expanding its Citizen Action fiscal sponsorship program.
Citizen Action supports start-up and volunteer organizations working on
environmental issues. Through the Citizen Action Program, OSI functions
as a “back office” by providing accounting and financial management
services so that activists can focus on addressing issues and building programs
rather than administrative concerns. Currently, OSI sponsors over 30
groups united by missions focused on protecting natural habitats, making cities
and communities more livable, and connecting people with the land. Citizen
Action groups:
- support community
gardens and playgrounds; - promote energy
conservation; and - work on local
planning and zoning issues.
Citizen Action is open to groups that do not yet have their own 501c3
(tax exempt status) from the IRS. Applications may be made at any
time; review by our Board is quarterly.
Please see the attached brochure. For more information, please contact Christine
Rico, Citizen Action Consultant, at crico@osiny.org or (212) 290-8200, or visit
