The City University of New York Campaign Against Diabetes and the Public Health Association of New York City invite you to a Legislative Briefing and Policy Forum:

New Approaches to Reducing Promotion of Unhealthy Food in New York City

Tuesday, January 27
9 am to 11 am
CUNY Graduate Center
365 Fifth Avenue at 34 Street
Skylight Room, 9 Floor

To reverse the epidemics of obesity and diabetes epidemics that are burdening New York City and worsening the city's health disparities requires three changes: making affordable healthy food more available; increasing options for safe physical activity and reducing the promotion and availability of unhealthy food.  While the City is taking important steps in the right direction in the first two, much more needs to be done to reduce the promotion of unhealthy food. This Policy Forum will review legislative and other approaches to making unhealthy food less available. Its goal is to assist legislators, advocates and others to propose and implement specific policy changes in New York City.  The Policy Forum is based on the recent report Reversing Obesity in New York City An Action Plan for Reducing the Promotion and Accessibility of Unhealthy Food.

Please RSVP by 1/23 to 212-817-1888 or LMongiello@gc.cuny.edu
