Job: Emergency Food Program Site Review Consultant

The Site Review Consultant will work in the community with emergency food providers receiving funding from United Way of NYC (UWNYC) to perform administrative, food safety, and nutrition related evaluations of the program. This is a part time position requiring at least 10-15 hours per month with flexible hours (some weekends and evenings required), starting mid to late October 2009 through late April 2010. Continued work may be available after July 1, 2010.
Specific Duties:
· Conduct onsite Program Reviews of UWNYC funded program as assigned;
· Provide formal and informal technical assistance to emergency food providers regarding food quality, safety, sanitation and cost-effectiveness during site visit;
· Provide written recommendations as needed and follow up recommendations with additional site visits, as needed;
· Assess needs for food service equipment based on food safety and sanitation issues and make recommendations as required.
Job Requirements:
Candidate should have a strong interest in working to improve the emergency food network in New York City. Candidate should have some experience in community nutrition, food safety, and/or food service and have the ability to travel throughout the five boroughs. Candidate should be a self starter and be able to communicate timely and effectively with emergency food providers and UWNYC staff. Candidate must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per month. Strong preference given to candidates currently holding a NYC Food Protection Certificate. Candidates without this certification will be required to take the course within the first month of hire.
