SUMMIT ON GROCERY STORES 

AND GOOD JOBS IN OUR COMMUNITY

To illuminate the problems of low wage workers in the retail industry and to discuss how workers can break out of this cycle of poverty, UFCW Local 1500, in conjunction with National Employment Labor Project, Jobs with Justice, Domestic Workers United, Brandworkers International, Building Bridges Radio Show, Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, Restaurant Opportunities Center of New York and the New York Immigration Coalition is holding a Summit on Grocery Stores and Good Jobs.  A panel of experts representing Unions, Employers and academia will speak about retail jobs and how the quality of these jobs impact workers, our neighborhoods and the broader economy.

Mimi Rosenberg the co-host of the radio show Building Bridges: Community and Labor Report will be moderating the roundtable discussion. Panelist include Paul Sonn from National Employment Labor Project, Nicholas Freuden distinguished Professor of Urban Public Health at Hunter College, Rene Flores Executive Director of Human Resources and Assets Management at Gristedes, Charlie Fafaglia Vice president of Human Resources at Fairway Market LLC and Rob Newell Field Director at UFCW Local 1500.
